Not on a Mac? Kazhy needs macOS 14 or newer on Apple Silicon. Open kazhy.app/download on that Mac and it starts by itself.

Free forever on your own Mac, with no account. Add your own Groq key for the cloud and AI Styles, whenever you want to.

Then, three steps

Open the .dmg and drag Kazhy to Applications.
It's signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so macOS won't block it. It will still ask once: the first time you open Kazhy, macOS says the app was downloaded from the Internet, and Open is all it wants.

Allow the microphone.
Kazhy asks the first time you record. Nothing is recorded until you hold the key.

Allow Accessibility.
System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. This is what lets Kazhy watch for the Fn key and paste into the app you're in. Without it, nothing gets typed.

Then hold Fn, say something, and let go.

Apple Silicon only. M1 and up, macOS 14 or newer. Intel Macs are not supported.
Not on the Mac App Store. Typing into other apps needs access the sandbox doesn't allow, so Kazhy ships directly and updates itself.
The first run downloads a speech model. About 1.4 GB on a Mac with 16 GB of memory, 140 MB on an 8 GB one. Once — after that it works offline.
Free is free, in full. On-device transcription, your vocabulary and your full history, no account, no daily limit.
The cloud runs on your own Groq key. Free to create, and generous on Groq's free tier: two hours of audio in any hour, eight hours in any day. Reach a limit and Kazhy finishes the job on your Mac instead of failing.
